Why We Exist

On the road of discovering myself, I realized that the road that lay ahead of me was more covert and had to be innately discovered more than ever before. As a proud African-American woman, even with detours and obstacles along, I was still inspired to create a path that lead to greatness. Now with my destination in sight, passion for helping people soon kindled my growing curiosity of the educational system to assist others like me to fill my shoes.  Black women have been evolving and changing the workforce immensely in the past couple of years. We have been breaking barriers by becoming anything that we dream of!
I couldn't agree with Mr. Whitaker in his article (Charles Whitaker "The Changing Role Of Black Women". Ebony. FindArticles.com. 22 Jan, 2011. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1077/is_5_56/ai_71404459/)

He states: Make no mistake about it, despite the socioeconomic indicators showing that Black women are still straggling to catch up to their White and male counterparts, Black women are on the move, as is reflected in the new roles they play in the rapidly changing modern world.
When I see this I can't help but get excited, but then I remember one important fact. No one can make it to that dream if there isn't anyone there to assist.  Beyond popular belief no one makes it to their end goal by themselves and that is why we have the Gaskins Foundation.
No matter what your dream big or small (hopefully STEM related :) ) We are here for you! From helping students pass their ACT/SAT with our tutoring program, to our women of excellence program helping young women professional and personally develop we are here to assist on your journey.  As long as we are around you will never be able to say you are alone, because you aren't, we are here to support you and provide you with the tools you will need to succeed.
